Regional Checklists
Know which birds are in your town, county, state, etc.
Birdpost's 'Regional Checklists' are initially compiled by the Birdpost team and, once established, become vibrant checklists that grow as sightings are reported in each region. Putting the power to report bird sightings into the hands of actual birders creates real-life, real-time regional bird lists.

With Regional Checklists you can:
-
Research the birds in a given region prior to traveling there. If you’ve never been to Hawaii, for example, and have no idea what birds you’ll see there, Birdpost provides you with not only a visual checklist of all Hawaii birds, but also the means to find them with our satellite maps.
-
Connect with fellow birders in a given region. If you are interested in meeting birders in New York City, for example, the New York City regional page not only has a checklist of birds, but also a list of active birders in the region ranked by activity.
-
Compare your sightings against the sightings of the checklist. Birdpost immediately compares the birds on your Lifelist with the birds on any Regional Checklist and computes which birds remain to be seen.
-
Browse through the Regional Checklists with our innovative Checklist Browser.
-
Track checklists through the “My Checklist” feature that allows you to not only keep tabs on the sightings in a particular region but also review your overall rank in the region.
How It Works
- Birdpost assembles a visual checklist of the birds germane to a given geographical region.
- Birds not found on a regional checklist can be added if/when 3 users sight that bird in the region. For example, if a Bald Eagle has never been seen previously in San Francisco, and therefore does not reside on the checklist, it can be added to the list with 3 user sightings.
